FAQ's
1) Is your Manuka honey genuine?
Yes. We only stock authentic Down Under Manuka Honey sourced from New Zealand and labeled with verified Manuka grading systems such as MGO (and UMF where applicable). Each jar is sealed, clearly labeled, and supplied through official distribution channels.
2) What does MGO mean in Manuka honey?
MGO stands for Methylglyoxal, a naturally occurring compound in Manuka honey.
The higher the MGO number, the higher the level of this compound in the honey, which is why MGO is widely used as a strength indicator.
As a simple guide:
- MGO 83+: Mild strength, ideal for daily use
- MGO 263+: Stronger daily option
- MGO 356+: High strength
- MGO 514+: Ultra high strength, premium grade
3) How should I take Manuka honey?
Most customers take Manuka honey straight from the spoon.
Recommended use:
- Take 1 teaspoon daily, preferably in the morning
- You can also mix it in lukewarm water
- Avoid mixing in boiling hot water, as excessive heat may reduce natural properties
Manuka honey can also be used as a topping on toast, oats, or yogurt.
4) Does Manuka honey expire or crystallize?
Manuka honey has a long shelf life, but it does come with a best before date on the jar for optimal quality.
Crystallization is normal:
- Honey can naturally crystallize over time, especially in cooler temperatures
- This does not mean it has gone bad or become fake
- To soften crystallized honey, place the jar in warm (not boiling) water for a few minutes and stir gently
Storage tip: Keep it sealed and stored in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
5) Can kids or pregnant women use Manuka honey?
As a general rule:
- Children under 12 months should not have any honey (including Manuka honey)
- Pregnant women can typically consume honey as part of a normal diet, but if you have any medical concerns, it’s best to consult your doctor first
If you’re buying for a child above 1 year, many customers start with a milder grade like MGO 83+.
